This is a superb book by two of the special researchers uncovering the dim mists of human history. The "origins of the sphinx" is at the heart of this uncovering and these are the two people who have taken the lead in learning, and teaching us, that the Sphinx is very much older than we have been conventionally taught.

By all means, read this book/5(35). Arm of the Sphinx is the amazing second book in the Books of Babel series. It wouldn't work as a standalone, you should read "Senlin Ascends" (which is wonderful) first, and since each of the first two books ends on a cliffhanger you need to commit to the series/5.

The historical absence of the Sphinx is one of its greatest enigmas, and one of the main reasons why many authors have proposed the Sphinx predates not only the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt but the entire Egyptian civilization.

These theories are well laid out in the book “The message of the Sphinx” by Graham Hancock and Robert Bauval. This project was completed by a wonderful teacher in our school, Mr. Taylor. Students brought in their own bars of soap. They drew the outline of the Sphinx on their soap with a pencil.

With a plastic knife, they carved off the big chunks that weren't needed. The fine detail was completed with pencil points and paper clips. Having been delighted with Josiah Bancroft’s Senlin Ascends, I dove straight into its sequel, Arm of the -line verdict: it’s wonderful.

I liked it nearly as much as the first book, which is to say that if forced to assign stars, I’d give it out of AotS is a more complex book than its predecessor, and I expect my thoughts on it will be more rambling and less coherent.
